Monthly Book Coaching
Ongoing story-level support while you draft or revise your novel
Best for writers who want steady guidance as they plan, plot, or revise.
Writing a novel rarely falls apart because of one big problem.
More often, it stalls because of a dozen unanswered questions—and no clear place to bring them.
Monthly book coaching gives you steady access to an experienced fiction writing coach and developmental editor while you work, so you’re not left second-guessing every decision or spinning your wheels alone.
This is focused, intentional support designed to help you keep moving forward with clarity.

Who this is for
Monthly book coaching is an ongoing support option for writers who want a ‘phone-a-friend’ option during drafting or revision.
This option is a good fit if you:
- Are actively drafting or revising
- Want steady guidance without rigid deadlines
- Work best with conversation and clarification
- Don’t need (or want) full-manuscript feedback every month
- Prefer flexible support that adapts as your draft evolves
It works especially well for writers who:
- Balance writing with limited time or energy
- Get overwhelmed by too much feedback at once
- Want help making decisions—not having them made for them
What you’ll get
Instead of waiting until you’re completely stuck—or investing in a full edit when you don’t need one—you get a dedicated space each month to:
- Talk through story or craft questions as they arise
- Get targeted feedback on a specific scene or section
- Sense-check revisions before committing to them
- Stay grounded in the big picture of your story
You choose the format that works best for you: live coaching calls or page reviews with written feedback. You can choose between the two each month.
When monthly book coaching works best
Monthly coaching is most impactful when I’m already familiar with your story. For most writers, that shared foundation comes from working through the:
- Early Draft Story Assessment, or
- Big Picture Story Edit
Starting with one of these options allows us to use coaching time efficiently. Simply put, I can give you more useful, targeted feedback if I’m familiar with the story, the characters, and your goals for the novel.
How it works

Writers use this support to:

- Stay connected to their story during long projects
Each month focuses on one primary question or topic, so feedback stays clear, contained, and actionable.

Monthly Book Coaching FAQs
Is once-a-month coaching really enough?
For many writers, yes. Monthly book coaching is designed to help you make clear decisions and maintain momentum between sessions.
Each month focuses on one meaningful question or challenge, so you can revise independently with confidence. If you want more intensive, manuscript-wide feedback, a Big Picture Story Edit is a better fit.
What type of feedback should I expect?
Monthly coaching focuses on a specific question, concern, or topic to keep feedback clear and actionable. For the most effective feedback, be prepared to come to coaching calls with a topic of discussion or a specific question in mind. If you submit pages for feedback, you’ll be asked to submit a question or topic that you’d like the feedback to focus on.
Here are some examples:
- How can I add more conflict in this scene?
- Are the character’s goals and motivation clear?
- I’m stuck on how to get my character to the next major plot point.
Is monthly coaching a substitute for a developmental edit?
No. Monthly book coaching provides ongoing guidance and targeted feedback, while developmental editing offers structured, story-wide analysis.
Many writers use monthly coaching after an Early Draft Story Assessment or Big Picture Story Edit — Focused to support revision.
Can I join if we haven’t worked together before?
Yes. Monthly coaching is most effective when I’m already familiar with your story, but if you’d like to discuss options, book a Discovery Call.
Do I have to choose between calls and async feedback?
Yes, but you can switch each month to choose the format that meets your needs at the time.
Many writers alternate between calls and async feedback depending on what they need at that stage of the draft.
What happens if I don’t use my time or word count?
Unused time or word count rolls over for one month. This flexibility is meant to support real life, not create pressure (though regular use tends to produce the best results).
Can I cancel or change my plan?
Yes. You can switch tiers, pause, or cancel at any time before renewal, with 24 hours’ notice for plan changes. There’s no long-term commitment—monthly coaching is meant to support you while it’s useful.
